One of the most common concerns we hear from Muslim families is simple: "How can I be involved in my daughter's or son's marriage search when it happens on an app?"

Today, we're answering that question with the launch of Guardian Mode on Qaboolify — the first Muslim marriage platform to give your wali their own dedicated, secure dashboard.

What Is Guardian Mode?

Guardian Mode lets a ward (the person searching for a spouse) invite a trusted guardian — a father, brother, uncle, or Islamic scholar — to join their journey with a defined level of access. The guardian receives a personal email invitation, signs into their own Qaboolify portal, and can be as involved as the ward wants them to be.

The guardian's portal is completely separate from the main app — no profile to fill in, no discovery feed, no distractions. It's purpose-built for one thing: supporting the ward.

Four Permission Levels — Set Per Conversation

Not every family has the same dynamic. That's why Guardian Mode offers four levels of involvement, and crucially, each conversation can have its own setting:

  • Notify Only — Receive key notifications (new match, stage progression) without seeing conversation details.
  • Read Only — View the full conversation thread in read-only mode — like sitting in the room.
  • Approval Required — Must approve or decline a match before the ward can proceed. The classic wali role, made digital.
  • Full Participant — Can send messages directly into the conversation. Their messages appear as a distinct amber bubble labelled "Guardian" so everyone knows who they're speaking with.

Privacy and Consent, Built In

The partner in each conversation must explicitly consent before the guardian can see their messages or view their profile. This is not opt-out — it is opt-in, per conversation. A partner can consent to one conversation but not another. Their privacy is always protected.

Once a partner consents, the guardian can view their complete profile: photos, voice intro, personality prompts, Islamic values, and verification status — everything needed to make an informed assessment.

Who Can Use It?

Guardian Mode is a Premium feature. The guardian does not need a paid subscription to accept — only the ward needs Premium. The ward retains full control — they can adjust permissions or remove the guardian at any time.

Why This Matters

Many Muslim women have told us they want their family involved — they just didn't have a structured, dignified way to make that happen online. Guardian Mode changes that.

For families sceptical about Muslim marriage services, this is what makes Qaboolify different. No competitor has built this. This is a platform built around Islamic principles from the ground up — not adapted from a Western social product.

To invite your wali, go to Settings > Wali / Guardian in your Qaboolify account.
